A Rocha Brazil

Our story begins in 2001, with the publication of Under the Bright Wings (Peter Harris’s account of the early years of a Rocha) in Brazil.

As soon as Christians, researchers and environmental professionals knew of the book, several contacts were made among Brazilians interested in A Rocha's work. The group thus formed was coordinated by Marcos Custódio, who later became the first President of A Rocha Brazil. A National Committee was designated in September 2004 to oversee the future organisation.

During this start-up stage, three National Committee members took part in international A Rocha meetings, and in January 2006, Brazil welcomed the visit of International Trustee Alfredo Abreu and Portuguese Director Marcial Felgueiras.

The founding meeting of A Rocha Brazil finally took place on 18 March 2006.
