Sylvia is a chemist, with a Masters in Biochemistry, and a PhD in Biology (Genetics). She is a professor at the Federal University of São Carlos, in São Paulo state, and studies avian genetics.

Paulo is an economist, with a Masters in Environmental Science, and is studying for a PhD in Agricultural and Natural Resources Economics at Colorado State University. He has been working with Agro-ecology in interdisciplinary projects.

Lia Bordini Amaral – Minutes Secretary

Lia is a biologist, studying for a Masters in Anthropic Impacts in Mining Projects. She has worked as an environmental educator with indigenous peoples in Central-West Brazil for four years. She now coordinates environmental education in the Environmental Volunteers Agents Program from IBAMA, a Brazilian agency on the north coast of São Paulo State.

Solange is a biologist, with a Masters in Botany, a PhD in Biology, and is doing post-doctoral research in Histochemistry. She is a researcher and professor at the Institute of Botany in São Paulo State.

Professor Sir Ghillean Prance FRS

Iain has been involved with A Rocha for many years, first as an International Trustee and now on the Council of Reference. Formerly Director of Kew Gardens, he is now Scientific Director of the Eden Project in Cornwall, Visiting Professor at Reading University and President of the Institute of Biology. He is the author of many publications including “The Earth Under Threat – A Christian Perspective.”
