A Rocha Bulgaria is in the early stages of development, dependent at present on a group of volunteers who live in Sofia.

Their first practical conservation project concerns the peony Paeonia peregrina which grows in the Konjavska Mountains SW of Sofia. The team are recording its local distribution, assessing threats to its survival and producing educational information for the local communities.
