A Rocha Czech was formally established in 2002 by pastor, life-long birder and environmental educator Pavel Svetlík and his wife, Radka. After developing and nurturing children’s ecology clubs in Southern Bohemia, near Prachatice, they handed over leadership to A Rocha volunteers and moved to Northeastern Bohemia to start a new project in the districts of Náchod and Rychnov nad Knežnou.

A Rocha Czech focuses on two main activities:

Nature conservation and scientific research

In collaboration with partners in the Czech Republic, we are developing biodiversity programmes in the Special Protected Area of the Eagle Mountains, in Grandmother’s Valley, and in the region of the Rozkoš reservoir. In the south we work around Prachatice and in the Bohemian Forest National Park.

Environmental Education

In cooperation with schools, YMCAs, churches, and ecological NGOs, we have established children’s environmental clubs in Dobruška, Ceská Skalice, and Prachatice. We also bring entire communities together to celebrate special events.
