April webflashA Rocha Leaders meet in KenyaLeaders from all the A Rocha projects around the world, and some of the International Team and Trustees, will be meeting in Kenya this month to learn from one another, and with particular reference to our work in Africa to consider the link between poverty and conservation. The guest speaker will be Bishop Zac Niringiye, from Kampala, Uganda, who is both a scientist and theologian, well known for his commitment to social justice. Delegates will visit several of A Rocha Kenyas study sites, and learn from their experience of involving local communities in protecting important and threatened habitats.Long-eared Owls at our French CentreLong-eared Owls Asio otus roosted in a cypress tree outside the A Rocha France field study centre throughout the winter. The owls were first seen in November, and stayed until March, peaking at over thirty birds. Nairobi conference for conservationistsA Rocha Kenya invites conservationists to attend a conference in Nairobi on 11&12 April 2007. Speakers will include Dr Stella Simiyu and Dr Helida Oyieke of the National Museums of Kenya; Dr Julius Kipngetich, Director of the Kenya Wildlife Service; and A Rocha leaders from India, France and the UK.
