Star of people

25 years - and an invitation

During 2008/2009 A Rocha will be celebrating 25 years of God's faithfulness to us as we have sought to care for his creation. A Rocha was founded in 1983 with the aim of establishing a field study centre in Portugal. There are now residential field study centres in Portugal, France, the Czech Republic, Canada and Kenya, and many different kinds of community conservation projects, large and small, in 18 countries. If A Rocha has played an important part in your life, or encouraged you in some way, we'd love to hear from you. We may share some of the stories we receive in various ways, but will contact the sender first to ask permission.

Volunteers wanted for bird research

Portugal: During June 2008, paying volunteers are being sought to join one of three teams spending 7 days and nights on the southern Portuguese coast, catching and studying European Storm-petrels Hydrobates pelagicus. No previous experience is needed, just enthusiasm and a reasonable level of fitness. For costs and logistics, please contact Dr Rob Thomas:ThomasRJ@Cardiff.ac.uk

Lebanon: Experienced birdwatchers are invited to help the team in March/April 2008 with counts of soaring birds as they pass through the snow-capped mountains and with surveys in oak woodlands; ringers/banders are also wanted - a wonderful opportunity to enjoy Mediterranean and Middle Eastern specialities. Please contact lebanon@arocha.org if you can spare two weeks.
