Allen Goddard
The Goddards on the trail

Allen Goddard, A Rocha South Africa's founding Director, heads up the organization until the appointment of a CEO, in the near future. Allen is married to Joyann, and they have two boys Gabriel and Simeon. Allen trained as an English and history teacher and is a sessional lecturer in spiritual theology. Joyann teaches ballet. Gabriel and Simeon enjoy reading, making music, cricket and computers. The Goddards' favourite family activity is discovering wild places in Scripture, Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, Harry Potter and South Africa.

Kevin Penderis
Kevin Penderis

In January 2008 A Rocha welcomed Kevin Penderis onto the national team. Kevin is A Rocha’s Environmental Education Officer. He grew up in Ixopo and matriculated in Pietermaritzburg. He has an honours degree in Wildlife Science and has been involved in Environmental Education on a part-time basis for several years. Kevin and his wife Caryn are very involved in New Covenant Fellowship Church and are eagerly awaiting the arrival of their first child, due in June. Kevin is passionate about sharing God and His creation with people of all ages and backgrounds. He enjoys bow-hunting, fly-fishing and just gallivanting around the bush!

Noluvuyo Mshumpela
Noluvuyo Mshumpela

Vuyo is A Rocha’s Schools’ Field Worker, part time, running our Creation Alive Clubs in Schools. She works part time for the Students’ Christian Organization on campuses in Pietermaritzburg. Vuyo also co-ordinates A Rocha’s special events like the annual Duzi River Clean up day. She comes from Butterworth in the Eastern Cape and she is fluent in English, isiXhosa and isiZulu. She has a diploma in Marketing, and has completed S.C.O.’s STEM Programme. In 2007 she will commence a part time diploma in Environmental Education. Noluvuyo works well with children and students alike, and enjoys beading.

Nicole Fergusson

Nicole Fergusson

Nicole graduated from Wits University in 1992 with a BA and spent the next ten years in the entertainment industry. She worked in England for 5 years where she met David. They married and had their first child, Jocelyn. They moved back to SA in 2000 and their son Matthew was born in 2001. At this stage Nicole returned to working with nature and the environment. She has worked in a variety of educational and conservation organisations and is currently completing the Goldfields Environmental Education Diploma through Rhodes University. Nicole is passionate about creation and about passing this passion on to children of all ages.

Daniel Chabala

Daniel Chabala

Daniel is a trainee conservator in the Living Msunduzi Waterways Project. He, whose first language is seTwana, comes from Bloemfontein in the Free State. Daniel has a South African Forestry Training College Certificate in brush cutter and chain saw operation and safety.

Siphamandla Dlamini

Siphamandla Dlamini

Siphamandla Dlamini was born in Edendale and matriculated in Dambuza, Pietermaritzburg. He lives with his parents and family in Dambuza and enjoys playing soccer and cricket. He has a forestry certificate in brushcutting and chainsawing. Siphamandla is very committed to his Apostolic church.

Neil Dixon

Neil Dixon

Neil is A Rocha’s part time webmaster. He is from Pietermaritzburg and has a degree in computer science and business information systems, and a diploma in Project Management. Neil works as a full time Test Analyst at First National Bank in Johannesburg. He enjoys cricket, flying model aircraft and playing drums.

Rt. Rev. Dr. Philip Le Feuvre
Rt. Rev. Philip Le Feuvre

Philip is the Chairman of the Blue Swallow Working Group in Limpopo and Board of Reference member for A Rocha South Africa. Philip is founding Bishop of the Diocese of St Mark the Evangelist, in Limpopo, where he has now retired. He is married to Charmian, and they have three children. The Le Feuvres live at Cair Paravel, their home in Magoebaskloof.

Carl Nielsen
Carl Nielsen

Carl Nielsen is a chartered accountant in public practice, with a client base of small business and individuals. He is a member of St John's Wynberg Parish where he leads a cell group and is part of the worship team. He is passionate about the outdoors, particularly hiking, but also mountain biking, camping and more recently geocaching. He enjoys skiing and snowboarding and getting to places where he can enjoy these. Carl writes, "I believe Christian faith is all about being practical and therefore I try to involve myself in ways that make a difference here and now. I have served as the financial manager at the Students Christian Organisation for a number of years, and look forward to playing a role in A Rocha."

Lydia Van Rooyen-Willems
Lydia Willems

Lydia Van Rooyen-Willems was born in Ladybrand, Freestate(OFS) and grew up in a children’s home where her parents were directors of an orphanage. At the University of Stellenbosch she completed a Forestry degree in Parks & Recreational Planning, and Hons.BSc in Nature Conservation. She worked as Environmental Planner in Maputoland, KZN, did a variety of other jobs while following her husband to placements in Knysna and Humansdorp, She worked for a number of years as Social Ecologist for Knysna National Lake Area (SANParks) as well as for Cape Nature in the Western Cape and the Department of Environmental Affairs. At present she is employed by the University of Stellenbosch in a primary appointment at the Department of Botany & Zoology and secondary appointment as Warden of Lydia Ladies’ Residence. She has two teenage daughters.
